Apple announced a big update to Apple Creator Studio on 27 October 2026, arriving in the App Store in November. Final Cut Pro gets thousands of built-in MotionVFX templates, titles and effects plus text-to-image generation; Pixelmator Pro gets Generate Fill; Logic Pro, Keynote, Pages and Numbers get AI assistants in beta. Existing subscribers get it free.
What is Apple Creator Studio?
Apple Creator Studio is Apple's subscription bundle of creative apps for Mac, iPad and iPhone — Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Motion, Compressor and more. New subscribers pay $12.99 a month or $129 a year in the US, with a one-month free trial, and up to six family members can share it.
The apps are still sold as one-time purchases on the Mac App Store too: Final Cut Pro costs $299.99, Logic Pro $199.99, and Pixelmator Pro, Motion and Compressor $49.99 each.
Final Cut Pro: MotionVFX built in, plus image generation
The headline change is that MotionVFX — previously a separate third-party product — is now built into Final Cut Pro for Mac, with thousands of templates, graphics, titles and transitions, and tools for rotoscoping, tracking and colour grading.
- Content Hub: Apple-curated stock video, photos and backgrounds inside the app
- Image generation: create an image from a text description right inside a project, then make quick edits and style changes
- Pixelmator Pro round trip: open any timeline image in Pixelmator Pro and the changes save back to the project
- more keyframe easing options and 23 new transcription languages
Motion gets MotionVFX plug-ins too: cinematic colour grading, 3D camera tracking and one-click selection.
Pixelmator Pro: Generate Fill
Generate Fill lets you circle an area of an image and describe the change in plain words; Apple says the result matches the surrounding light, perspective and texture. Built-in Super Resolution keeps generated parts sharp, and they can be merged into a layer or added as a new masked layer.
AI assistants and MCP: still in beta
Logic Pro on Mac gets an intelligent assistant (beta) that can start a song or set up a vocal track from one prompt, plus a Stem Splitter that can now isolate or rebalance drums. Keynote, Pages and Numbers get assistants that understand the document — in Keynote they help design and animate slides.
Keynote, Pages and Numbers also add MCP (Model Context Protocol) support on Mac, so external AI agents can read, edit and automate work in them. The catch: the assistants and MCP need macOS 27 (or iOS/iPadOS 27) on an Apple Intelligence device and work in US English only.
How to try it
Install the November update when it lands, then test it on a real job: cut one 15-second social ad in Final Cut Pro using MotionVFX titles and Content Hub footage, and do one background clean-up in Pixelmator Pro. Compare the time with your current plug-ins before cancelling anything.
