Runway Ads, Runway's AI tool for paid-ad creative, is now included with every paid Runway plan. It looks at your best-performing ads on Meta, Google and TikTok and generates new on-brand image and video variants for each placement. When Runway first showed it on 30 September, it was a pilot for selected enterprise partners; on 27 October it reached Runway's regular paid plans.
What is Runway Ads?
Runway Ads is a workspace inside the Runway app that makes ad variants from your brand kit, your product images and your past winning ads. Runway calls it an "autonomous engine for performance marketing" and builds it on Runway Agent.
- generates video and image ads from a brand kit, product imagery and earlier winners
- tags every variant by hook, audience, format and call to action
- reformats each variant for different aspect ratios and channel specs
- localises on-screen text, product screenshots and voiceover, following your rules for brand voice and words that must not be translated
- reads performance back from Meta, Google and TikTok, per market
What changed on 27 October
Runway Ads moved from a pilot to Runway's regular paid plans. Runway's product page says it is "included with every paid plan" and uses your existing credits; you open it with "Try Runway Ads" or from the sidebar in the app.
One detail to know: according to the product page FAQ, direct publishing to the ad platforms is "coming soon". For now you approve variants and download them.
Every variant waits for a human
Nothing goes live without sign-off. Each variant sits in an approval queue, and Runway's announcement says an automated brand check runs before a variant even reaches that queue. Later, teams can switch to automatic publishing for some campaigns and set budget limits, such as the maximum daily change in spend.
Runway also shares results from using the system on its own ads since July: weekly ads grew from 77 to about 900, return on ad spend doubled and cost per subscriber fell 41%. These are Runway's own figures, not an independent test.
What it changes for brands and creators
Runway names four users: direct-to-consumer brands, e-commerce teams working from product feeds, mobile apps localising a winning ad into many languages, and agencies running tests across client accounts.
- Good fit: many sizes and languages of one proven ad; quick tests of hooks and calls to action
- Still human work: the first strong idea, the brand kit itself, product accuracy and the final check
- Watch: credits — every variant is a generation, so start with a small batch
How to try it
Start small and keep control. Pick one or two ads that already work, prepare a clean brand kit (logo, colours, fonts, product photos, tone of voice) and write down words that must never be translated. Generate a first batch, review every variant against your real product, and only then decide which ones to run.
