Brand kits in AI tools: a checklist for on-brand visuals
What to put in a brand kit for AI image tools — colours, fonts, references, rules — and what kits in Magnific, Runway and Canva can't do yet.

A brand kit in an AI tool is a set of colours, fonts, logos, reference images and written rules that the tool reads before it generates, so every new image starts from your brand instead of from zero. Magnific, Runway and Canva all have one now. Here is what to put in it, how to write the rules, and what a kit still can't guarantee.
A brand kit is a rulebook the AI reads first
A brand kit turns your guidelines into something the model uses on every generation, not a PDF that sits in a folder.
- Magnific applies its Brand Kit to generations in Image Generator, Spaces, Designer and its Agent.
- In Runway, a kit applied in an Agent chat informs the plan for each generation: the assets it references, the styles it targets and the guidance you wrote.
- Canva AI can use a kit's colours, fonts and assets, or a saved Brand Template for the layout.
What to put in the kit
Start with the parts a model can actually see and copy.
| Item | What to add | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Colours | HEX codes with names | Mark one main colour and the accents |
| Fonts | Approved fonts and pairings | Canva lets you upload font files; Magnific doesn't yet |
| Logos | PNG or SVG versions | Light and dark versions |
| Imagery | 5–15 of your best on-brand images | Same light and mood, no off-brand outliers |
| Products and people | Product photos, characters, wardrobe | Runway's enterprise kits have sections for these |
| Formats | Channel sizes and safe zones | Magnific kits can hold Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn templates |
Write the rules like a brief
The written descriptions in a kit steer the model as much as the images do.
- Runway says section descriptions "carry the most weight" in how Agent uses a kit.
- Write concrete rules: "soft daylight from the left, no harsh shadows", "product always fills about a third of the frame", "never put text over the face".
- In Magnific, a correction you make becomes a permanent rule of the kit — so fix the rule once instead of re-prompting every image.
Know what a kit can't promise yet
Brand kits steer the result; they don't lock it.
- Magnific: guidance doesn't guarantee exact typography, exact colour values or pixel-identical placement; CMYK and Pantone, sub-brand kits, brand video and font uploads are not supported yet.
- Runway: brand guidance "describes intent, not a guaranteed outcome".
- Canva: no letter or line spacing in the kit yet, and custom fonts may be swapped during AI generation.
Who offers brand kits in 2026
Magnific, Runway and Canva all have brand kits, but each one lives in a different place and plan.
| Tool | Where the kit works | Who gets it |
|---|---|---|
| Magnific | Magnific One, Final mode | Magnific One is for paid subscribers; kit built from PDF, images, website or text |
| Runway | Agent, Apps, Custom mode; Runway Ads | Agent brand kits: Enterprise plans |
| Canva | Canva AI, Brand Templates | Pro, Teams, Business, Enterprise, Education, Nonprofits |
A checklist before you share the kit
- Names and HEX codes match the brand book.
- Only approved logos, fonts and images are inside.
- Every section has a one-line written rule.
- You ran 5–10 test images and fixed the rules that failed.
- One owner keeps the kit updated; Runway and Magnific let you share it with the team.
